Description
This cream cheese frosting is perfect for cakes, cupcakes, and cookies.
Ingredients

- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
- 8 oz. cream cheese, softened to room temperature
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon lemon juice (optional)
- 4 cups powdered sugar
Instructions
- Using a hand mixer or stand mixer with a paddle or whisk attachment, cream softened 1/2 cup unsalted butter until light and fluffy.
- Mix in the softened 8 oz. cream cheese, 1 tablespoon vanilla extract, and, if you wish, 1/4 teaspoon lemon juice.
- With the mixer working at slow speed, slowly start adding 3 cups powdered sugar and beat until smooth (if you want a bit thicker frosting, you can add up to an extra 1 cup powdered sugar, a little at a time).
- Increase the speed and whip until you have a fluffy consistency.
- Use on completely cooled cake, cupcakes, cookies, etc.
