Description

This Spicy Voodoo Shrimp recipe is a flavorful seafood dish that’s quick to prepare, perfect for any occasion!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (or to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce (like Tabasco)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions

  1. If not already done, peel and devein the shrimp, then rinse under cold water, and pat dry.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and allow it to heat up.
  3. Once the oil is hot, add minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Add cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, thyme, and oregano to the skillet. Stir for about 30 seconds to release the flavors.
  5. Add the shrimp to the skillet. Cook for about 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently, until they turn pink and opaque.
  6. Pour in Worcestershire sauce and hot sauce, then stir well to coat the shrimp evenly.
  7. Add salt and pepper to taste. Adjust the seasoning or spice level if desired.
  8. Top with chopped green onions and parsley for freshness.
  9. Finally, plate the Spicy Voodoo Shrimp and serve hot with lemon wedges on the side.

Notes

  • For a milder version, reduce the cayenne pepper and hot sauce.
  • This dish pairs well with rice or crusty bread.
