Instant Pot Spaghetti

Description

A quick and easy recipe for delicious spaghetti made in the Instant Pot.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 6 large cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 cups water
  • 3/4 to 1 teaspoon salt (use according to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 8 ounces spaghetti
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan

Instructions

  1. Set Instant pot to saute mode. When hot, add olive oil and butter and let the butter melt.
  2. Stir in garlic and cook until it begins to get pale golden. Do not wait for it to get darker in color.
  3. Press cancel and add water, salt, ground black pepper, red pepper flakes and dried parsley. Give a good stir.
  4. Break the spaghetti noodles in half and place on top of water. This helps them to fit better and cook more evenly.
  5. Using a spoon, gently press the spaghetti into the liquid trying to separate them, which helps it not stick together. Pro tip: Do not stir the spaghetti into the water.
  6. Close and lock lid with valve turned to sealing. Cook for 5 minutes on manual (high pressure and normal temperature) Instant pot be in warm mode for 6 to 7 minutes.
  7. Release pressure, open and stir in grated parmesan.
  8. Let pasta rest for 5 minutes and serve hot.

Notes

  • Ensure the spaghetti is broken to fit the pot properly.
  • Do not stir the spaghetti once added to the water for best results.
  • This recipe can be adjusted for more or less spiciness based on the red pepper flakes.
