Grilled Teriyaki Chicken

Description

Delicious grilled chicken marinated in a savory teriyaki sauce.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 pounds chicken, breast, thighs, tenderloins
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup mirin
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 Tablespoon fresh ginger (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan bring all of the teriyaki sauce ingredients to a boil.
  2. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10-15 minutes until it starts to thicken. Remove and cool.
  3. Reserve ¼ cup of teriyaki sauce, and pour the rest over the chicken pieces. Mix until well coated, cover and place in the fridge for about 2 hours.
  4. Preheat grill to high heat.
  5. Remove chicken from the marinade and place on the grill. Cook for about 5 minutes per side, depending on thickness.
  6. Brush the chicken with the reserved marinade a couple of times during the cooking process.
  7. Once chicken reaches 165º F remove from the grill.
  8. Serve immediately with any extra sauce poured over the top.

Notes

  • For best flavor, marinate the chicken for at least 2 hours.
  • Serve with rice or vegetables for a complete meal.
