Description

Deliciously soft buns filled with a creamy cheesecake mixture and topped with chocolate sandwich cookies.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup crushed chocolate sandwich cookies
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
  • Additional crushed chocolate sandwich cookies for topping

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a bowl, combine warm milk and sugar. Add the yeast, stir, and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
    • In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and the egg.
    • Mix until a dough forms, then fold in the crushed cookies.
    • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
    • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  2. Prepare the Cheesecake Filling:
    • In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
    • Fold in the mini chocolate chips.
  3. Assemble the Buns:
    • Punch down the dough and divide into 8 equal portions.
    • Flatten each portion into a disk and place a tablespoon of cheesecake filling in the center.
    • Fold the edges over the filling and seal well.
    • Place buns seam side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Final Rise:
    • Cover the buns with a damp cloth and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
  5. Bake:
    • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Bake the buns for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown.
    • Remove from oven and let cool slightly.
  6. Add Toppings:
    • Sprinkle additional crushed cookies on top of the buns.

Notes

  • Ensure the milk is warm (not hot) to activate the yeast properly.
  • Seal the dough well around the filling to prevent it from leaking during baking.
  • Allow the buns to cool slightly before serving for the best texture.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator and reheat slightly before serving.
