Deliciously soft buns filled with a creamy cheesecake mixture and topped with chocolate sandwich cookies.

- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup crushed chocolate sandwich cookies
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
- Additional crushed chocolate sandwich cookies for topping
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a bowl, combine warm milk and sugar. Add the yeast, stir, and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and the egg.
- Mix until a dough forms, then fold in the crushed cookies.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
- Prepare the Cheesecake Filling:
- In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Fold in the mini chocolate chips.
- Assemble the Buns:
- Punch down the dough and divide into 8 equal portions.
- Flatten each portion into a disk and place a tablespoon of cheesecake filling in the center.
- Fold the edges over the filling and seal well.
- Place buns seam side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Final Rise:
- Cover the buns with a damp cloth and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
- Bake:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake the buns for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from oven and let cool slightly.
- Add Toppings:
- Sprinkle additional crushed cookies on top of the buns.
Notes
- Ensure the milk is warm (not hot) to activate the yeast properly.
- Seal the dough well around the filling to prevent it from leaking during baking.
- Allow the buns to cool slightly before serving for the best texture.
