Description

This cake is perfect for a cozy dessert or a sweet breakfast treat! Enjoy your baking!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Streusel: In a medium bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Stir in melted butter until the mixture becomes crumbly. Add nuts, if using, and set aside.
  2. Make the Cake Batter: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a bundt pan. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside. In another bowl, beat the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture alternately with sour cream, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
  3. Assemble the Cake: Spread half of the cake batter into the prepared bundt pan. Sprinkle half of the streusel mixture over the batter. Carefully spread the remaining batter over the streusel. Top with the remaining streusel.
  4. Bake the Cake: Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool in the pan on a wire rack for 15 minutes, then invert onto a serving plate to remove the cake from the pan.

Notes

  • Tip 1: Ensure all ingredients, especially butter, and eggs, are at room temperature for better mixing.
  • Tip 2: For added depth of flavor, consider adding a pinch of nutmeg or clove to the streusel mix.
  • Tip 3: If the top is browning too quickly during baking, cover with aluminum foil to prevent burning.
