Description

Delicious cheesy ground beef stuffed in a hollowed loaf of bread, baked to perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large loaf of bread (preferably Italian or French)
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Bread: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the top of the bread loaf horizontally and hollow out the center to create space for the filling. Set aside.
  2. Cook the Beef: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and minced garlic, sauté until onion becomes translucent. Add ground beef to the skillet, cook until browned. Drain excess fat if necessary. Stir in tomato sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. Assemble the Bread Loaf: Fill the hollowed bread loaf with the beef mixture. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese generously over the beef.
  4. Bake: Place the filled bread loaf on a baking sheet. Bake in the oven for about 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  5. Serve: Remove from the oven, and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Slice and serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add some red pepper flakes to the beef mixture for a spicy kick.
  • You can mix different cheeses like cheddar or provolone with mozzarella for a richer flavor.
  • Customize the filling by adding other ingredients such as bell peppers, mushrooms, or olives.
