Description

A soothing and delicious homemade chai tea latte.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (any brand, caffeinated or decaf) chai tea bag
  • 12 teaspoons (5-10g) granulated sugar, or to taste
  • 1 cup (240ml) milk (2% dairy, non-dairy, or whole milk)

Instructions

  1. Place the chai tea bag in a measuring cup or small heat-proof mug.
  2. Pour 1/4 cup (60 ml) of freshly boiled water over the tea bag and let it steep for 5–7 minutes to make a strong concentrate.
  3. Remove the tea bag, gently squeezing out excess liquid, then stir in 1-2 teaspoons of sugar until fully dissolved.
  4. Pour 1 cup (240 ml) of your chosen milk into a small saucepan.
  5. Heat the milk over medium heat until steaming hot but not boiling, stirring occasionally.
  6. Remove from heat and vigorously whisk the milk, or use a handheld frother, for 1–2 minutes until light and foamy.
  7. Pour the chai concentrate into your serving mug.
  8. Slowly pour the warm milk over the chai, holding back the foam with a spoon, then spoon the foam on top.
  9. Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade chai tea latte.
